Join Alachua Audubon for an evening with Austin Gregg, as he recounts a memorable journey to this small South American country that hosts an incredible 1600 species of birds. Along with seven other adventuresome birders, a driver, and a local guide, we crisscross the equator visiting numerous private nature reserves and a number of public parks.
Over the course of 10 days, travelling first to the western cordillera then to the eastern, 296 species of birds were observed at altitudes ranging from 1,873 to 13,300 feet.
The Quito megalopolis, countryside, culture, and natural beauty of Ecuador made for a most notable trip.
